The Art Camp is for children and young people ages 8–16 and will take place over four full days from June 15–18, 2026.
During the camp, we will build an artistic nation together! The nation will be located in Art Lab Gnesta’s monumental exhibition hall. What it will look like, what the nation is, what it will be called, and what laws and rules apply there remains to be seen…
On the first day of the camp, a preliminary meeting will be held where participants will work together to shape the content based on personal and shared needs, wishes, and imaginations regarding the new nation.
In their work, participants will experiment with various methods and techniques within the arts, such as sculpture, textiles, drawing, printmaking, construction, and free architecture. We’ll play games involving laws, rules, and flags. We’ll print our own T-shirts and build huts, flags, signs, hideouts, nests, and shelters.
It will be a collective work of art that emerges step by step over the course of the camp and bears traces of the group’s ideas and processes. The children and young people will participate in an artistic process where they explore what a nation and a monument can be and what they can express, but also for whom they are built.
One afternoon, we will take a field trip to Fagernäs in Mölnbo. Fagernäs is the location where Art Lab Gnesta will continue its activities starting in 2027. There, we will collaborate with the Gnesta Skate Association, where participants will get to try skateboarding, design their own skateboards, and build skate parks. We’re also hoping to go swimming!
On June 17, we’ll have an evening activity with a movie night at Art Lab Gnesta.
The camp wraps up on June 18 with an opening ceremony and National Day celebration for the new nation at Art Lab Gnesta, open to family members and the public.
Participation is free of charge.
We’ll provide lunch and snacks.
