Fagernäs, Mölnbo.
Our art-driven institution is undergoing a transformation.
As we now take the next step, from Gnesta to Mölnbo, the association is also changing its name from Art Lab Gnesta to Epoken – a name for a new era. A new chapter is beginning. This is a shift in geography, but also in our artistic and institutional position. Art is the driving force, our activities are expanding, and new processes, encounters, and opportunities are emerging.
Having started in an old fire station in Järna, and then operated for 17 years in the old Brewery House in Gnesta, we are now taking the next step and moving in 2027 to Fagernäs, a building from 1890 with great cultural and historical value, several thousand square meters of indoor space, and a large park next to Lillsjön. Fagernäs carries many layers of history, from 19th-century milk production to the 20th-century rat poison factory. Now the site will become a palace for art, artists, children, young people, and the general public. A new artistic context where history, ecological scars, wildness, and more-than-human relationships are given center stage.
We look forward to a continued exciting 2026 in Gnesta, before we begin a new era together in 2027 in Mölnbo.
