Concert: Matti Bye plays to the silent film La Patagonia in the exhibition Expedition Magallanes

Saturday 25/11 2023 at 19-20.

Composer and silent film pianist Matti Bye – multi-awarded and awarded the Golden Horn – comes to Art Lab Gnesta’s greenhouse for an exclusive concert. Here he plays live to the black and white silent film La Patagonia shot by Alberto Agostini in 1910, which is also shown in our ongoing exhibition Expedition Magallanes by the artist Mariana Silva Varela.

The film documents the brutal transformation of the landscape in Patagonia, southern Chile, during the turn of the last century, which is taking place in parallel with the genocide of the indigenous Selk’nam people. Here you can also see the wild animals and plants whose conditions were just beginning to change. The memory of them is actualized through the artist’s hands, where they appear as abstracted figures in the exhibition’s various textile works. The exhibition can be seen from 12-8pm on this day.

Free entry, arrive early for a seat. We offer hot drinks!
